Satstream Presses Forward with CAP Support
Filed under: General

August 2008 Insider Report:

CAP and Internet Port for SatStream SCPC Receiver

Satstream has announced an option for its SCPC EAS receiver which allows higher speed reception of EAS (Emergency Alert System) and CAP (Common Alerting Protocol) messages via satellite and an Internet CAP interface.

Now the Satstream receiver supports an alternative Internet path from the EMC (Emergency Management Center) for higher speed transfers of images and other large files. The robust satellite link provides a link not subject to failures within the terrestrial communications infrastructure.

Satstream SCPC uses a small amount of dedicated satellite bandwidth to keep costs low and reliability high by avoiding shared satellite frequencies. The TCP/IP connection also allows all satellite received alerts to be confirmed back to the originating agency via the Internet.

Further details to be announced shortly.  Stay tuned.

Welcome to the Satstream News weblog.

This is a new feature here at satstream.us which we hope will enable us to better inform our customers (and customers to be) about our company, our products and the talented group of people behind the logo who make Satstream what it is today and will continue to be into the future.  We’re hoping that through this medium we might better communicate what Satstream has done, what we’re working on now, and what’s coming just over the horizon.

Company websites are often, by necessity, quite static in nature.  But weblogs, by their very nature, are dynamic creatures which can elaborate on a wide variety of subjects over an extended period, providing a valuable and searchable record over time almost automatically.  Entries can briefly scratch the surface or they can delve deeply into the finest of details, allowing coverage of topics that are important or interesting, but which would not normally end up on a dedicated web page, only to be buried somewhere within the website hierarchy.

There’s always something happening here at Satstream, but we haven’t always let you in on it.  It’s about time that we did.  So to the more than 112 million blogs out there in the vast interconnected global network, we add one more.  And although there is that vast sea of specialized weblogs already in operation, ours is entirely unique.  Search all you like, but you’ll soon discover that no other blog has the inside scoop on Satstream.  We’ve got that market cornered.

As this is a new feature and we’re charting unfamiliar territory here, please be patient while we get the news feed up and running.  While it might take awhile before the first several entries appear and posting may be sporadic for a time, please don’t let that discourage you from checking news.satstream.us as often as you like.  You’re always welcome.

The first order of business will be to bring you up to the present by reporting news items from the recent past, highlighting what’s important now and perhaps revealing a glimpse or two of what’s still to come.

After that, the sky’s the limit.
