August 2008 Insider Report:

CAP and Internet Port for SatStream SCPC Receiver

Satstream has announced an option for its SCPC EAS receiver which allows higher speed reception of EAS (Emergency Alert System) and CAP (Common Alerting Protocol) messages via satellite and an Internet CAP interface.

Now the Satstream receiver supports an alternative Internet path from the EMC (Emergency Management Center) for higher speed transfers of images and other large files. The robust satellite link provides a link not subject to failures within the terrestrial communications infrastructure.

Satstream SCPC uses a small amount of dedicated satellite bandwidth to keep costs low and reliability high by avoiding shared satellite frequencies. The TCP/IP connection also allows all satellite received alerts to be confirmed back to the originating agency via the Internet.

Further details to be announced shortly.  Stay tuned.
